The KinesisUK Hell of the West Cyclo-X Sportive is a new event from the team at Spike. 100km of trails, moorland tracks and a few ‘special’ sections thrown in for good measure will offer a tough but rewarding ride. Dartmoor has some stunning riding, some brutal climbs, fast flowing descents and plenty of great off-road. Simon Young from Spike is keen to offer up a challenge, “This event is on our home turf and there’s nothing we like more than a decent day in the saddle. We want to create an event which we hope will grow to become a landmark event for the region, it will show off all of the amazing riding that Dartmoor has to offer that’s not just about riding on the road.” Whilst it’s badged as a Cyclo-X Sportive, the Hell of the West is also open to riders on mountain bikes. The terrain is a mix of road and off road so for the more confident rider a cross bike will probably be the best choice, but if you are new to riding off road or you just don’t have a cross bike then a mountain bike will be fine.”
KinesisUK are our title sponsor, they’ll be at the event with the new range of Kinesis CX bikes and we’ll be welcoming the Kinesis Morvelo Project team along.
National Trust are also a key supporter of the event and will be helping to make the event a memorable one.
South West Cyclo-X are behind the event also and will be helping out as well as giving information and offering some kids events on the day in Parke Estate.
