They tend to have one locating hole for the spring on a small facing plate - would imagine no hole then return them.
That sounds a bit outrageous to me, I'd get in touch with the company.
Definately no hole but it is immaculate so not as though it has been there and broke off for example. just had a read at my zinn mtb maintenance book and i see there are cantis that dont use a locating hole they have a spring nut on the canti arm so it must be for these. sods law they are rare and therefore expensive - looks like i'll be riding my other half's GT aggressor at ballater this weekend lol!

Frame was econd hand via internet forum (not this one) so cant return it. don't really want to as its a beauty.
The columbus forks are about 110 from Paul Milnes if you can stretch to it ?
Dia compe made canti's which didn't need a locating hole for the spring on the brake boss, but that was, "back in the day". Most will have been consigned to the spares box, as first subsequent waves of nraking innovation have lapped onto the shore... Retrobike vintage mtb site may help?

Ok thanks. will send the seller an e-mail as the forks look like the columbus ones and also look virtually brand new. hopefully there'll be a reasonable explanation.

Thanks for the advice

There the wrong fork then!!! Sounds like there road forks not cross one's. You need to get some cross forks...

Cheers

If the forks have canti bosses which screw in, then you should be able to unscrew them and put in the facing plate that Jez mentions above. Sounds like they've gone missing somewhere along the line.
Lee's right - I would hunt for a set of facing plates.

Yes, it's the facing plates - the lad who sold it to me is going to have a look - he'd taken them off as he was using Avid Ultimates which don't need the little hole.

Avid Ultimates would be a nice addition to the bike but at £180 I think i'll try and get some facing plates instead :-)

Thanks

ok, anyone know where you can get these if the lad can't find the ones he took off lol!!

Had a search online but nowt :-(

If he can't find them then send him the forks back!
