The lightweight design makes for a good competition bike. By placing the strength of the frame into the substantial down tube means that the centre of gravity is low and handling is more stable.
Pro Cyclocross geometry: higher bottom bracket, longer wheel base for mud clearance and stable handling, steeper head tube for agile handling and semi-sloping geometry for comfortable handling

Do me a favour - what difference will shifting ~100g of frame mass downwards do when you've got 70kgs of rider plonked on top of it?!

LOL - I was thinking just the same. I was just wishing that I weighed as little as 70kg though Lee
