The lightweight design makes for a good competition bike. By placing the strength of the frame into the substantial down tube means that the centre of gravity is low and handling is more stable.

Do me a favour - what difference will shifting ~100g of frame mass downwards do when you've got 70kgs of rider plonked on top of it?!
