Interview with 3 Peaks legend, Eric Stone

Eric Stone was the first person to win the 3 Peaks Cyclocross five times. An emigrant to the warmer climes of Australis for the last 30 years, Eric was able to visit the race again in 2014 – sadly being brought back to the UK to help family during a bereavement. I had a rare opportunity to catch up with this legend of the 3 Peaks  before he left the Yorkshire autumn behind, to chat about the race.Riding as an amateur in his first two races  - 1967 and 68 – Eric took such a beating but he said…See More

Dave,

Great idea for a site and good content - but the colours make it almost impossible to read!

Dark red type on busy, dark backgrounds with small type - I was really squinting.

I hope you read my comments in the constructive spirit I send them.

Cheers!

Interview: 3 Peaks legend Barry Davies

Another huge name in 'cross in my mini-series of interviews, Barry Davies was the first ever person to take three consecutive wins in the event. Showing the type of domination seen in his 60s predecessor Harry Bond and contemporary John Atkins, Barry was someone well-suited to the hardest of 'cross races.

I started by asking Barry which of his 3 wins ('73, '74, and…

Interview: 3 Peaks legend Tim Gould

Following the Eric Stone interview published yesterday, a second in a series of interviews with some utter legends of cyclocross in general, and the 3 Peaks in particular. Tim Gould was the first to take Eric's record and better it - winning six events and being the first man to do that. I shared a brief chat with Tim after the race this year when he and I were done. That was followed by a few emails and eventually this interview... We had a bit of a battle, passing…
