OK, I'm using my tyres from last season which I happened to ride on the road a lot after last season as I was planning on running tubs now but not got wheels built up yet. So, one has worn quit e a…Continue

"Don't set the pads too close to the rim, they do feel pretty dead when you do this. It is important to remember that in cross you absolutely don.t really want to be locking up, so you don't require the same power as on the road. You also…"

"Very good until my derailleur decided it had had enough and snapped the hanger! Looks like the jockey wheel gave way as there's not much of it left! Shame, was going quite well! You're right, they don't seem to clog much, seem like…"

"Right, I've put a few layers of latex, first layer to glue the strands back together and now it seems quite sound. Anyone ever tried it? can put full weight over bulge and it seems fine but obviously can't simulate what will happen in the…"

"Kris, once the tyre arrives place it on an old rim and apply the aquasure. Leave overnight. Alan has a good video on fitting tubs, but i find 30 minutes is enough time between the first coat on the rim, a coat on the tub and then the 2nd…"

"I haven't got time to get the tread refitted to an FMB carcasse. If I go std rhino do I need to aquasure immediately or can i do that after first ride (I'm guessing immediately is best!). If i order tomorrow and get the first layer of the…"

"IMHO, once the sidewall has gone, it's time to thank the tyre for its great service and retire it immediately Take an ordinary inner tube and see just how big it will go as you inflate it without the constraint of a tyre - that's why…"

tubular sidewall bulge - repairable?

I recently bought some second hand tubs, Rhino treads on FMB carcasses (mounted on Bontrager Race lites at a very good price). Used them for 2 races and they are great. There was a bulge either side of the valve on the front but I noticed when cleaning them after Otterspool that the threads were separating under the sealant. I pulled it back slightly and can see some green through the threads - is this the tube? Question is, can I use latex glue like Copydex to glue the threads back together?…See More

"I've been debating this too. I run 42 c-c on road but for some reason had Deda 40s on my cross bike which equates to 38 c-c. Just tried some old 44 c-c I have got and they seemed too wide when out of the saddle but the bike does feel like it…"

"I said top 30 for Frishi before the race. I was only just right!! No way would someone who isn't racing that much go much higher than that.  Pedigree is one thing but it doesn't get you by on every event. He did a great ride."

"I hear he was in walking boots - so not taking it too seriously - still I won't be telling anyone that when bragging that I beat a world champion! Surviving the crashes on the first road section, wind, rain and hail was enough!"
