Disc brake fade

So Ipswich yesterday was a proper mudfest.  My brakes lasted about 30 minutes until they stopped working.  I'm running BB7 front and rear with sintered pads.  Exactly the same thing happened to…Continue

"I use 175 on road and 172.5 for cross. Although I'm sometimes described as a boffin, there's no science for me - it just feels right!"

Zipoff warm up tights for women

Greetings, Mrs M wants to get some zipoff warmup tights from Santa.  I've got Zepnat ones but they don't come in smaller sizes or women's cuts.  Neither of us have had much luck finding any online apart from some flarey ones for runners.  Does anyone know whether suitable zipoffs even exist in women's sizes, maybe for other sports? Any suggestions?     See More

"Thanks Alan, Pads were bedded in when new and been fine for 4 or so races plus a few interim training rides. My conclusion is that yes you should expect fade in those conditions so be ultra vigilant on getting the setup bang on before the start…"

"Neil, maybe an obvious one but do you bed in your pads properly? Like Dave I've never had a problem on fully sintered pads, even in rough Peaks conditions and some other gritty 30/40 mile off road rides. If you don't glaze the pad surface…"

Dave Haygarth replied to Neil Mansfield's discussion Disc brake fade
"I have ridden two x 3 peaks on bb7 cable discs and have not had any fade, ever. One finger braking. I suspect there's some pad issue. Do you use SRAM or shimano levers (the pull ratio is better on SRAM for bb7s). Send me your number on a dm…"

"Ok points taken. I guess you don't realise how much auto adjusting is going on with hydraulics. I need to train my pit crew to adjust them (AKA the kids). What did I expect? Maybe 35 minutes... Or even 40? ;-)"
