well said JB, commisairs, pits, no tarmac, no water, no steps. thought it was a bike race across the country side ???? saw the belgian X champs yesterday and they never got off there bikes !!!!!!!!!!!! thank goodness for the TLI at least we teach…

I rode my first off road races in 1949, they were Harriers versus Cyclists events with the runners getting a start based on the course conditions, the first real cyclo-cross courses I rode would have given the current risk assessment crazy brigade…

According to this article, which is pretty much concurred with all over the internet, is was c. 100 years ago.... with the first championships being held 60 years ago this year.

Following on from the success of this year’s winter race we are back with another mountain bike v cyclocross assault course.
