what are peoples thoughts on running a mini summer cross series next year? maybe 4 events with the format similar to what Yorkshire do i.e. two races U14 and Over14.
I would be up for running at least 1 would anybody else be up for putting one on? I also have a series sponsor lined up if it gets off the ground.
i am thinking no prizes for individual races just an overall series prize list with possibly a team prize as well
these would be a mid week event so as not to clash with road events etc

Comment by Dave Haygarth on November 23, 2011 at 14:48 You'll find it hard not to clash with Road stuff at Preston / Scale Hall / Sport City races but that's life. I'd love to chip in with organising but I have really struggled to get a decent venue round here. Work in progress.
Would be good to use the Yorkshire model and have them a lot cheaper if you're not planning on prizes.
Comment by mark turner on November 23, 2011 at 15:20 that's true Dave but I am wondering how many cx riders do the crits etc and would love to have a few races over summer to keep their hand in?
if we look at just prizes for the series 3 of the 4 to count then it would be cheaper to enter and make them top 5 only - I have approached a sponsor who is initially very interested in providing prizes.
WEst Craven school are keen for us to return next year and i think we may be able to have at least one there Alan and I are looking at a new venue next week which could be absolutely stunning, they are keen to be involved but we will have to see if we could hold a summer event there as well as a winter one.
talking to riders most don't seem to bothered about winning a prize beyond top 3 or 5 so hopefully this will help organisers as prize funds can be crippling
