And so to the doyenne of Scottish Cyclocross, Scotlands favourite course, Auchentoshan. I must admit to a particular liking for this course as it was here in 04 that I raced my first race, fell at the first corner and was immediately hooked on the sport. The day started awfy early asit is my club that runs this so I was there taping out the course before it was daylight. The course hasn't changed much in the six years that I've been racing here but it was the silver jubilee event so these guys know what they are doing.

I had another tremendous start and was right up there when we came to the first corner, I ran wide as I could hear the brakes squealling from all those trying to get into the corner tight, another few places to me, F*&%, I must be in the top ten. The hurdles came and went and then into the fast paths and bomb holes. I train here quite often when I am in Glasgow so know the course like the back of my hand, left hander flat out into right hander, over the bump etc etc I was having a great time and holding off(up) some of the really fast guys. I lost a couple of places but had a ball and ended up 16th. Best race ever. One of the good guys who got snarled up in the first corner said he tried to get past me a couple of times but decided to sit in for two laps watching my lines then overtook me on the tarmac and gained another 5 places before the end.

This is the course for the Scottish Champs this season so will be training on it every time I am in Glasgow from now till DEC.
